After four days and nights in the summer swamp heat, I had yet to make a photograph worth bringing home. Due to the historic floods throughout the Mississippi River Valley, lakes and bayous throughout Louisiana were flooding and high winds moved through the night.
On July 19th, the waning Gibbous moon rose at 10:08pm. I’d found an inland lake disconnected from the flood waters and low hanging night clouds were passing through the evening. For fifteen years, the moon has energized my photo-shoots providing night sky illumination and a touch of insomnia to fuel my explorations.
Despite our extensive collaboration, I’ve never made an image that revealed her face. During long exposure photography, the moon is stretched, her voice distorted, becoming a screech instead of a soothing glow. On this night, as she rose over the cypress, the slow passing clouds softened her direct gaze and the scene was held in lunar blue. I waded into neck deep waters and floated near the camera waiting for the moon to clear the distant treeline, a soft breeze blew the hanging Spanish moss.
I photograph to document place and change, but also to express feeling that provides a starting point for viewer’s memories and imagination. Science reveals many insights, but do we know why the moon moves our mood?

Prices for the photographs depend on size and the number of photographs remaining in the edition. As the edition sells and fewer photographs remain, the price increases.

The size listed is the size of the photograph image area. The photographs are printed on ultra-smooth fine art paper with an approximately 3" white border around the image size giving you above listed paper sizes.

The photographs are available as unframed photographs only.
Border and Signature Options
Photographs can be displayed framed with or without the white border. See signature options below for more details on this option.
Signature
The 3” white border of the photograph is signed in ink with photograph titled by Frank. If you choose the no border option Frank’s signature will appear on your edition card, not the front of the photograph.
Printing and Edition Info
The back of the photograph is detailed with printing information and edition number in pencil.
Edition Card
The printing and edition information is duplicated on a card affixed to the back of the photograph with Frank’s signature.
Packaging - Unframed photograph only
To decrease potential damage to the photograph during shipping and handling, the photograph is rolled into a double-walled protective packing tube for safe transport. All photographs are guaranteed for safe delivery. If your photograph arrives damaged, we will replace it.
